I am putting up four ideas, all of which IMO are fair and possible.

Choose and discuss.

I wouldn't do any of them.
While I'd like to upgrade the SS position we're not in a position where we need to do so NOW!!!! and trade-deadline deals are exactly the type where contending (or hopeful) teams overpay precisely because they need it NOW!!!! and often have to out-bid other contenders in the process.
And besides, Tulowitski might not even available for the next month

* Gee and Plawecki for Starlin Castro -- Maybe if I though Castro were a better SS

* Syndergaard for Javier Baez -- Not a Freakin' chance

* Syndergaard, Murphy, and Plawecki for Tulowitski
* Syndergaard, Plawecki, Flores, and Amed Rosario for Tulowitski
If we're going to be picking up Tulowitski's contract, both its length and its size and with the injury history to boot, the Rox are going to have to settle for a lesser human package in return.

Who said anything about NOW!!!!????

All of these are winter moves, IMO.

For the here and now, I say stand pat, try to make up these five games (that they are under .500) in the last two months that are left, get some momentum going, hopefully get some significant uptick in the gate, build up the value of all of their assets that they could use in a deal, and go forward from there.

Then I'll evaluate these five months from now. Lots of stuff can change in the interim.

Like Tulowitski being done for the season ... AGAIN!
He already hadn't played since July 18th. Now is to have labrum surgery on his hip. They say he Should be ready for spring training but, as always, his mileage may vary.
This is the same problem that kept ARod out for much of a season.

This will make it the 2nd season in the last three that he failed to play 100 games (254 games total over 3 years), and the 5th time in eight that he didn't reach 130.
Then throw in the Coors factor, and the contract factor, and that the odometer will turn to 30 before he sees another pitch.

Now I bet they wish they took Sandy's offer of Logan Verrett, Juan Centeno, and a Jayson Werth gnome.

I think the original deal included Dock Doyle instead of Centeno. Centeno's made it to the majors.

Not that this is SS-related, but in the wake of the Tulowitski surgery comes news of Carlos Gomez going in for patella tendon surgery and a "five to six month" recovery time.

I think you mean Carlos Gonzalez, not Carlos Gomez.
