Mex17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I am putting up four ideas, all of which IMO are fair and possible.Choose and discuss.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I wouldn't do any of them. While I'd like to upgrade the SS position we're not in a position where we need to do so NOW!!!! and trade-deadline deals are exactly the type where contending (or hopeful) teams overpay precisely because they need it NOW!!!! and often have to out-bid other contenders in the process. And besides, Tulowitski might not even available for the next month* Gee and Plawecki for Starlin Castro -- Maybe if I though Castro were a better SS* Syndergaard for Javier Baez -- Not a Freakin' chance* Syndergaard, Murphy, and Plawecki for Tulowitski* Syndergaard, Plawecki, Flores, and Amed Rosario for TulowitskiIf we're going to be picking up Tulowitski's contract, both its length and its size and with the injury history to boot, the Rox are going to have to settle for a lesser human package in return.
Mex17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 Who said anything about NOW!!!!????All of these are winter moves, IMO. For the here and now, I say stand pat, try to make up these five games (that they are under .500) in the last two months that are left, get some momentum going, hopefully get some significant uptick in the gate, build up the value of all of their assets that they could use in a deal, and go forward from there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Who said anything about NOW!!!!????No, not NOW!!!! he saidDon't you know that it's different for Mex?

AGAIN!He already hadn't played since July 18th. Now is to have labrum surgery on his hip. They say he Should be ready for spring training but, as always, his mileage may vary. This is the same problem that kept ARod out for much of a season. This will make it the 2nd season in the last three that he failed to play 100 games (254 games total over 3 years), and the 5th time in eight that he didn't reach 130.Then throw in the Coors factor, and the contract factor, and that the odometer will turn to 30 before he sees another pitch.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Now I bet they wish they took Sandy's offer of Logan Verrett, Juan Centeno, and a Jayson Werth gnome.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Not that this is SS-related, but in the wake of the Tulowitski surgery comes news of Carlos Gomez going in for patella tendon surgery and a "five to six month" recovery time.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Well, I'm ready to give Sandy the Executive of the Year Award.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I think you mean Carlos Gonzalez, not Carlos Gomez.
