Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Man, Lance Lynn. I just have inexplicable antipathy for so many of these Cardinals.Meanwhile, God has intervened. And will not let Bartolo Colon bat eighth.[*:3ggp3gav]E. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I'm setting the over/under at 15 Mets runs and taking the over.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Matt dD tweets a shot of his hose before the game.Goodness, we are going to win by a huge margin today.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 leadoff homerun. poo.aww well, first inning runs usually means you lose right? that's what I've been trained to expect.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 With those hose of MDD's, you really should expect the best.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 A walk for Grandy and a hit for Tea. And that's all the scratch we've got through three.Matt den Dekker's socks, we call on your powers NOW!!!!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Here's a shocker, Muffy thrown out on the basepaths again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 At least when Wright tries to do too much, he's a zero. When Muffy tries to overdo it, he subtracts.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Edgy MD wrote:At least when Wright tries to do too much, he's a zero. When Muffy tries to overdo it, he subtracts.Murphy is third in Fangraphs BsR among ML second baseman. He occasionally gets over-aggressive, but that's like saying a guy occasionally gets thrown out stealing so he should never steal. It's a net-positive.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Yes, well, I wasn't speaking of in the net. I was speaking about specific instances of trying to do too much to rescue a slumping team..Murphy is certainly an asset and a half, in the net.

Murphy's playing the same way and the games where the Mets don't win are the ones where he doesn't make it. Where someone misses a sign, where a diving catch doesn't catch the ball. Weaker offenses are going to tend to play closer games where one bad break could be the difference?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Three Cards downEnd of fourChris Young upTime to score!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Doesn't help that we're about 2-for-8 on hard-hit balls so far today.Nor does the fact that we've turned two of the four base-runners they have managed to get back into outs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Five complete innings in under an hour and a quarter ... is that even allowed these days?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Certainly not the moral victory I'm looking for, but Bartolo is probably your best bet if you want a fast game.Speeds things up during his at-bats, too.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Leadoff double for Colon. Now all we need is three or four more hits this inning to get him in.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 AND HOLY SHIT!! Bart doubles and comes around to score!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Gee & Mejia still hitless among NYM pitchers with at least double digits ABs (14 & 16)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Both of them may be "in the clubhouse" with those numbers, so to speak.Let's pick this one up.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 OK, Mets in command! Now what we need is the old four-inning, one-run save.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Three outs at 2B in half-a-gameIt's not helping matters when we only require the opposing staff to only retire 20-something hitters per game instead of the full 27
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 If Wright doesn't get thrown out, we'd have Lynn chased by now.Chris Young, talk to me, buddy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I retroactively want to sent Abreu up there.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 This is the kinda dumb shit that should get Terry fired.Having less talent than the other team is one thing but no excuse for the mental errors.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 That, btw, was the 2nd run scored by Bartolo in his career, the first since 2002 w/Montreal.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 It sure would be nice to know that he's (Terry) coming down on his team over it (the mental errata).
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Don't really think any of today's stuff were mental errors (yesterday was another story).Murph took a decent chance but got thrown out on a nice play/throw by Jay in CF. Granderson's was just a straight steal attempt (would have helped had CYoung not swung through another pitch) and Wright was safe but then bounced off the base with his slide.
