This amazing photo comes from the Times.

It's from 90 years ago, May 16, and it shows the greatest hitter ever with birds circling his head. Ruth pulled a move Pete Reiser would become known for a generation later, running full steam into a concrete barrier. Reports have him out cold for five minutes, treated for his unconsiousness in the classic Bugs Bunny fashion, with a bucket of cold water to the face.

Upon wakening, Ruth refused to be removed from the lineup, and somehow Miller Huggins acceded. And of course he got two more hits in the game.

Also notable is that the section where he has collapsed is largely populated by African-American fans. The report says that a teenaged Buck Leonard is almost certainly in attendance, watching his first ever major league game.

I read the thread title as "Knocked Up Babe".

Thought to myself, "Oh no, Edgy gonna be a baby daddy with one of his bimbos."

I'm guessing Huggins is behind the cops. And that's probably rookie manager and future Hall of Famer Bucky Harris at right.

This would be from the only MLB championship season in Senators (or Washington, DC) history.

Don't be silly. He'd have passed through the concrete wall and made the catch.
