Howie really impressed with Grandy's RBI AB.

EYJ triples.

Mets offense suddenly showing extreme prejudice.

Nice to have them show up on a day when the other team was running a 4-0 pitcher out against us.

Generous scoring on that hit/RBI by Grandy--he hit it hard but essentially right through Ellis who had just come in on the double switch.

28 pitches to just four batters (two outs/two on) for Torres means he doesn't get to finish the inning.
So it's Rice vs Adams as the tying run.

Keith's right. Torres is gassed.

Whew. Rice is nice.

How did I ever get to this point in my life without never having heard that song before?

How you ever saw this Daisuke Matsuzaka closer opportunity happening, I'll never know.

I mean, I feel like I can do a good job standing back and seeing patterns developing, but I never saw this. You were dead right about Harvey before anybody had a clew, as well.

Even if that spring training blockbuster only turned out to be an interesting early-season two-for-one, I tip my hat. Dice-Kloser. Never would have spotted it.

Well, you're also praising the guy who thought Colin Cowgill would be awesome and advocated the Oliver Perez contract.

To be honest the Dice K thing made sense only because you didn't have to look too far to see we'd need one soon, and, I guess, the so-called "unexpected" success of guys like Uehara.

Harvey was easy when I saw he drove an Escalade. He may as well have worn a sandwich board with DOUCHE painted in red.

Trade, same deal. I similarly was a very early advocate of Doodoo over Ike, one of the few who selected him in our first showdown.

Well, I bow before your prognosticatory skills. I was convinced it would take a cholera outbreak before Matsuzaka got a save opportunity. My word.

I, on the other hand, contributed the Lemon Pipers to this thread, and rhymed Rice and Dice seconds before anybody else did. That was... good too.

Before we go overboard on this stuff, I'm pretty sure Dice as closer is just because they're leery of using Farnsworth on back-to-back days - particularly if it's DGANG.
Not saying it might not morph into this idea at some point--Farnsworth IMO is only slightly less likely to crash and burn than Valverde--but Terry's not there yet just because he was there today.

Mets, btw, are already assured by the Parnell injury to have their 4th different saves leader in the last four seasons (F Rodriguez - Francisco - Parnell - ??)
The Cards just leaving town and the Marlins just arriving are two others in the same boat.

Have I gone overboard?

It just happened RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES! It may well NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN! But that's OK! Because I was certain it would NEVER HAPPEN AT ALL!

So I think I've successfully MAINTAINED A BALANCED PERSPECTIVE!
