nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Tonight was the anniversary of the last time a clean player broke the all-time homerun record. Aaron once led the all-time leader board, but Hammerin' Hank is only 36th on the all-time list in home runs per atbat. 6th on this lofty list? your very own Ralph Kiner! at 1 hr every 14.11 ABs...And, despite being dead, he could move up to 5th... if Ryan Howard were to play out his horrible contract and decline enough from his current 1 every 13.99 ABs! Howard is currently 312/4365 and is signed for 2014-16. He needs to pretend to play to make that dough! He hasn't been the healthiest guy lately, but could he manage 900 ABs? if so he'd need to hit less than 61 homers, a rate of 1 every 14.75 ABs, sounds doable to me! Hank Aaron hit only 1 every 16.88 for his career, so if Howard merely slows down to Aaron-levels for 3 partial seasons, Kiner will be back in the top 5!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I wasn't aware Ryan Howard had done that much. It means I need to pay attention to him... After Philly I could see him DH'ing so yes it is frighteningTonight unclean Ryan Braun hit three HR's in Philly..Very quietly Brandon Belt has five already in 2014 for the Giants and might be a longer term threat...I was surprised to see that Alfonso Soriano has 407 HR's.... He plays at MFY3 and at say 30 a year pushes 500... yikes....We shall see....
