Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 With a more flyball-prone rotation, his value would be even more realized (and "not-apparent").
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 You guys don't need to be convincing me he's a great flycatcher. I understand that. I'm concerned that he's going to be a great flycatcher with a .600 OPS.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Well, when we get one perfectly rounded ballplayer in this lineup, we can stand to start picking these guys off. But he's been as valuable as anybody the team has. And you know he's serious about getting better because he's not dying his hair blonde like Gomez '07 or wearing a little mini mullet fray like Flores '13.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 What if he brings you a leftfielder who can smash it? I'd be tempted I say. TEMPTED.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Problem right now is, while we've got others who can play CF and play it pretty well (not Lagares well, but well well) I don't have any confidence in their offense either.Nieuwy & MdD K too much and haven't shown any ability to hit LHPs, Brown & Soupy are bats only, Cy Oung is considerably worse with the glove and can't hit either, Grandy's decent out there but then we'd need a serious corner basher, and even if Nimmo turns out to be the decent power/OBP-machine that we hope, he's at least mid-2015 away and it's questionable how well he'd handle CF
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Juan Lagares, stirred by faint but palpable disconnect, enjoys a breakout game Friday night. "Ain't nobody trading me -- kapesh?" he told reporters following his three-hit performance versus the Marlins.
