Rodriguez withdraws his lawsuits vs Selig, MLB & the Players Assoc.
Looks like he's resigned to accepting the terms of the suspension.

His lawyers are crying in their double martinis.

Reportedly he kept firing lawyers and hiring new ones when he wasn't getting the answers he was looking for--the answers presumably being: 'Oh you are so right Alex, everyone IS against you'--so the lawyers that aren't crying in their double martinis over this are probably laughing at him right about now.

Good! They can laugh with us! Double martinis for everyone!

The evidence that would have been made public by MLB is likely what scared Arod off, though litigation costs might have helped too. I'm glad the Yankees will still be on the hook for him NEXT year when he'll be 40 years old and 18 months removed from his last major league at-bat.

And on the hook for the season after next ... and the one after THAT.

Fair enough, but on the other hand I think not having Alex might be what keeps the Yankees out of the playoffs this year.

Selig may have exactly zero fans, but he's got a chance to retire on a long winning streak.

(Assuming that expanded replay action and home-plate-collision reform don't turn into disasters.)

Oh, that's out-fucking-standing.

"If only Aaron Boone had done his cardio"

Ten years ago today Alex Rodriguez was dealt from the Rangers to the Yanx (along with bags full of cash) in exchange for Alfonso Soriano and Joquin Arias.
Joel Sherman looks back at the deal and how many ways things could have wound up differently, including the part where the Rangers would have had a double play duo of Rabinson Cano & Jose Reyes.

For all Arod has done wrong it is worth remembering that he wanted to WIN and was willing to give up over 30 million dollars to get to a better team. He was also willing to switch positions for the good of the club. Did saint jeter ever do those things?

Jeter's ancient and clearly not the best player on his team even now and yet is adamant about his position in the batting order.

I'm only vaguely aware of who Chelsea Handler is, and I think she's being more rude than is necessary (even to Alex Rodriguez!) but this was a bit amusing nonetheless:

N.Y. Daily News wrote:
Alex Rodriguez may have a big fan in a certain WFAN radio host, but when it comes to talk show host and comedian Chelsea Handler, its a different story.

Handler, a guest on Wednesdays Howard Stern show told the King of All Media that A-Rod recently approached her, asking, Chelsea, why do you have to make fun of me all the time?" to which Handler responded, Get away from me you're disgusting.

She said she followed that up with You're gross," to which A-Rod responded, Why am I gross? We got off on the wrong foot. I read all of your books. I'm a big fan.

Handler then said, I go, 'I don't know why you're a big fan. I think you're a f---ing a--hole.

When asked by Stern why she feels this way, Handler said, Just the way he conducts himself.

She also called Rodriguez a buffoon, before hammering the point home by saying, He just sleeps around ... He is a pile of s---.

It's safe to say Mike Francesa and Handler will agree to disagree.

A conversation between Howard Stern and Chelsea Handler on appropriate self-conduct.

America, in a nutshell.

"Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez confirmed in government testimony he took Biogenesis-supplied performance-enhancing drugs over a period from 2010 to 2012, according to a report in the Miami Herald."

So wait, this means that all that screaming on Francesa's show last year wasn't truthful?
I feel so used.
