Jason DeGrom's modest run of success of late, which has had him elevating his status from organizational filler to gen-u-ine prospect, continued today --- taking a perfecto into the sixth against Salt Lake, before surrendering a leadoff single.

In the seventh, he gave a walk ad a double and got pulled because the Mets are getting a little shy about the workload of their young pitchers.

Reliever John Church, wayward (and apparently prodigal) adoptee of mine, allowed both runners to score, but still, heckuva show. That's not just the PCL, but it's Salt Lake City. High desert --- 1,288 meters above the ocean. Thin air and dry air. Not a friendly place to pitch, but DeGrom will. not. be. slow'd.

His final line (six innings, two hits, two ernies, two walks and three strikeouts) ended up pretty similar to that of the opposing starter(six innings, three hits, two ernies, three walks and three strikeouts). That opposing starter was erstwhile Long Island Duck Dontrelle Willis. But the 51s feasted on the bullpen and walked off the victors.
