Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Still looking for my first IGT win of the year in this last game before the break. But all streaks must come to an end some time and today is a good time to Bas-steal a win from the first-place Pirates. We may have been Harvey-less on Saturday but the Pirates are all out of Locke today as scheduled starter (and All-Star) Jeff Locke is sitting this one out with back spasms.Instead, Dillon Gee will see former #1 overall draft pick Gerritt Cole as his opponent. Called up earlier this season, Cole has made six starts in his ML career - winning the first four before losing the most recent two against Oakland & Philly.39 hits, 20 Ks, 7 BBs and 15 ER in 36.2 innings overall for Cole.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 The Mets can't blow this series..they just can't...
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Bad Kirkiness there. A shame.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I'll buy that for a Buck!!
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Funny being at a game at Citi Field and seeing the Mets score on the out-of-town scoreboard.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 This is going well. I figured Ike would start to give him a chance to go into the break with something other than what he's been doing. Satin shows why he's in there. Line single to right in the third.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 And for the record Mets are up 3-0 mid third. Buck drove in a couple in the first? Nice.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Gee gives them a run. I hope that play on the squibbler didn't rattle him.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Gee's biggest mistake has been bunting into a strikeout, so far.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 Mets have had Cole on the verge of being yanked from this game several times. But now they've hit into the last five outs on just six pitches starting with the Young GiDP to end the 4th.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Crap. I missed this "defensive gem" from Newy. Howd it look? I don't have MLBTV up cuz this is on TV. No replays on demand
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Laggy slamming a Red Bull in the dugout.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I fired up MLBTV. Very very nice catch. That was slicing away from him.MLBTV is at least ten seconds ahead of WPIX. This proves my theory that all this technology has put time out of sync.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Tough break there Danny boy. Picked off by a ground ball.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Gee will not make it thru 7. Hes gassed. Great job today tho. Only a couple of Ks but only five hits. *salute
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 Nice job by Gee keeping the Buccos down while the bats were busy trying NOT to score since the three-run 1st.Wish he had gotten just one more out though.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Nuttin' against Atchy Scratchy, but do we really want his first game back in months to be with the tying run at the plate?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 But man, he struck Marte out twice, didn't he?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 McCutcheon, man. He's the reason you have All Star games.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 And Alvarez takes a cut that would embarrass Valdespin.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Nice. Hawkins gets thru his bumps with minimal damage.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 4-2. More runs would be sweet. Parnell all set for the 9th.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Disastrous result, but nice cut there by Davis.
