Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 That's seven XBH (all doubles) for Satin in 50 PA. Ike had eight (3 2b, 5 HR) in 207 PA.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 And the one game which could have completed in barely over two hours will be delayed for who knows how long.If it does resume I'm assuming that Recker will NOT hit against Corbin. And if it doesn't ... Yippee!!!

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Terry remarked on this dynamic before the numbers said anything about it. His take was that he generally preferred pairing Recker with those pitchers comfortable with calling their own games, and mentioned Hef as one of them. Niese, he said, prefers to have his catcher choose for him and was a better match with Buck. I guess that means is that Terry is less comfortable with Recker's game-calling, I imagine mainly as a function of Buck's superior veteraness and the idea that Recker was a bat-first kinda backup.Hef has been one of the biggest upside surprises this year. As long as he keeps the homers down he's a really fine pitcher.

I get Buck being more successful with pitchers who prefer to be led, but Hefner's record suggests that Buck is less successful with independent-minded guys. Does Buck coerce pitchers like Hefner into throwing pitches they are not comfortable with?
