It's possible that single off the closer the other night was the spellbreaker.

I mean, I knew that they'd win again, someday, but man, it was getting hard to feel it.

Parnell biting down hard on that bullpen ace job may just be the second best news this season.

1. Harvey
2. Parnell
3. Murphy, I guess.
4. ... uh... Duda, maybe

slim pickings huh?

I'll put Duda second, just because he actually had a bad year last year.
Then Murphy remaining steady at second and putting up Murphy numbers.
Then Parnell's continued improvement.

I don't even know where to go from there though. Buck's good first two weeks? Baxter being a mostly serviceable 4th OF type? Hefner showing that he's a pretty useful 5th/spot starter type?

Considering the amount of money spent in the last decade on relatively unreliable closers, I'd say the notion that we may have developed a homegrown one is pretty damn nice. That may be some serious dough and not a small amount of mental energy going in a different direction over the next few years.

true, but I was expecting/confident in Parnell off of last year. So it's down there with "Wright's still awesome" on my list of good news. But having an actual trustworthy option the bullpen IS very nice.
