Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Narcissistic couple encounter first-world hijinx.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 first world hijinx... is that like "white people's problems"?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Yup. You wind up hating the protagonists so much in this film I have to think it was intentional. He's incredibly fit but supposedly has a cupcake-eating problem. His marriage apparently sucks but he gets BJs from his incredibly hot wife all the time. They're worried about going broke while driving around in a Beemer and living in a palace. Were it not for my strongly rooting for a guy who bets his career on a Graham Parker comeback and, sorta relating to their overarching concerns, and LOLing at scene where Mom hilariously insults a 13-year-old kid, I wanted to punch this movie in the face.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 you've just described EVERY Judd Apatow movie.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Yikes! This was pretty bad. Apatow's wife plays a pretty mean witch. A fake couple fighting for 2-plus hours. Did they really expect anyone to find this flick endearing...even with the cheap joke/gags?Paul Rudd is a guy I want to like...but I'm going to have to see more from him. I feel like he could make better choices now that he has a resume. Step out of you comfort zone, Paul.

Step out of you comfort zone, Paul.agree about the comfort zone, although I do like Paul Rudd and I laughed enough at this movie to enjoy it. It wasn't good or anything, but zany and funny enough.Holy Lost spoilers though. I probably should watch the last episode already..
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I guess this is Paul Rudd's lot in life..playing this guy.Didn't enjoy this at all, had some moments but like bucket said they were kind of hateful.Nice tits and body on yer one Fox.... Wow
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I had this one taped a while back but never got through it. Maybe I will in the future but I kind of doubt it.One of the problems is that if you're going to make a light-ish, middle-brow (at-best) comedy it's probably not a good idea to make it almost 2-1/2 hours long.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Holy fuck yes, that's another thing, way too long...I was watching it and tuned to HBO for Bill Maher at 10pm, I set the DVR to tape the rest and I wold watch after Maher...at 11 I went to the DVR and it asked me if I wanted to watch from current or from taped....it was still on....
