I think this will be a good year for Jon Niese, and that he'll make a step forward in his progress. 17-9, 3.20 ERA, 185 strikeouts. Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Year.

If all these players do as I hopefully predict The Mets should win 90 games easy.

Oops. I wouldn't be stunned to see him with 15 to 17 wins, and an ERA between 3.25 and 3.50. With Santana being iffy, I think Niese becomes the ace of the staff.

So he's been struggling with a stiff back and a neck injury?

Maybe they should 15-day him and give McHugh (if not Wheeler) a couple of starts. Right now some rest might be better for Niese than continuing to send him out there.
