Christensen's comings and goings played a big role in the 1986 Red Sox.

The Mets traded Christensen to the Boston Red Sox along with Calvin Schiraldi, Wes Gardner and La Schelle Tarver for Bob Ojeda, Tom McCarthy, John Mitchell and Chris Bayer. After spending all of 1986 with the International League's Pawtucket Red Sox, he was sent as the player to be named later in the deal that netted Boston Dave Henderson and Spike Owen from the Seattle Mariners.

Leonard Norris Foster (from Kentucky, and therefore he did in fact have an old kentucky home) was a middle infielder in the 1970s, who came up with the Braves before coming over to the Mets (76-77). He couldn't hit a lick.

According to Wikipedia: "Foster had one of the more unfortunate debuts in Major League history, when playing his first game for the Braves against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Three Rivers Stadium on July 9, 1971. Fielding at shortstop, he commits an error on the first ball hit to him. After flying out in the 3rd inning, Foster hits into a double play in the 5th inning, followed by hitting into a triple play in the 7th inning." That's like a negative cycle, isn't it?

You watch a Mets game and the starting pitcher just doesn't have it, the offense is anemic, defense is shoddy and the bullpen makes you lose the last shred of hope you didn't know you still had. Luis Rivera's data on Mets by the Numbers was entered improperly 5 years ago but no one ever noticed until I did just the other day.

I had him playing in 2004, not 1994.

I sort of remember him as an Expo better than a Met. Most recently he was coaching third base for the Blue Jays.
