Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) ... although the forecasts for getting this one in aren't looking too good. Apres Cliff Lee, le deluge. What we'll probably see is either a DH tomorrow or both teams have an open date on Thursday as well.If and when it does come off it'll be Matt Harvey's last start of the year before he gets shut down.Unfortunately for Matt, the offense was shut down long before he ever got here, like sometime in early August. He's scheduled to face Tyler Cloyd, who sounds like he ought to be out on his private yacht trying to land a marlin. Not to be confused with his cousin Cloyd Tyler who's definitely more at home trolling for catfish in some bayou. G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Mets decide Harvey too valuable to mess around with in iffy weather, will throw Hefner to the wind tonight, if there is a tonight.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Mets also don't care if Fred Lewis blows away.Lewis-RFMurphy-2BWright-3BDavis-1BDuda-LFTurner-SSValdespin-CFShoppach-CHefner-RHP

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Fred Lewis and Jeremy Hefner can come inside now. Rainout. Makeup Thursday night.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 My vision of the remaining lineups of the season being Bayless got off to a good start.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Is Harvey pitching tomorrow?
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 More rainouts means more potential starts for R.A. Dickey!Dickey, rain, rain, rain, Dickey, rain, rain, etc. He could potentially get 15 more starts this way.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Fred Lewis was a "can't miss" type prospect around 2007, oh well...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Date updated on the IGT - as is the Philly pitcher as mgr Charlie uses the occasion of the rain-out to swap his pitching around, so we'll get Hamels today on his regular rest and Cloyd gets bumped to tomorrow.Harvey still starting for the Mets.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 The only time I ever really read the words "can't miss" are in when the term is applied in retrospect by someone claiming a prospect has been oversold.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Well, 'can't miss prospect' or not, Fred loses his start to the rain-out and the revamped line-up as a result of Philly's switch to a LHPTejada - 6Murphy - 4Wright - 5Hairston - 9Davis - 3Shoppach - 2Duda - 7Torres - 8Harvey - 1

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Harvey is/was certainly one positive to come out of this season.I'd be pressed to come up with a second one though.Be nice if we can hang on to this one and get him the win.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Did Harvey say "we've got a good defense" as Murphy made the error?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 bmfc1 wrote:Did Harvey say "we've got a good defense" as Murphy made the error?Yup - although not technically an error because Ruiz didn't advance on the play.Harvey was, of course, referring to the two GiDPs behind him earlier in the game but, yeah, that was unfortunate timing on Muffy's part.Nice inning by Parnell - and it seems like a while since I've typed that sentence.Even the one hit was a broken bat bloop and he had to get an extra out due to the bad throw by Murph.
