btw, it was apparently Beltran who, while taking swings for a possible PH spot last night and watching a TV, noticed that Torres may have missed 1st and alerted Matheny who in turn alerted his pitcher - all of which was made possible by the time-delay following Torres's slide into 2nd and the possible injury from that.

Tough to complain about how GiDPs are killing any run scoring chances we do get when:
a) all our hits are singles
and
most of our outs are grounders anyway. DeScalso over at SS must have about 15 assists already in not yet two full games.

Not that the Cards are killing the ball either, but three different NYM pitchers have now put on the leadoff hitter in six of the seven innings.
