Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 My old adage on games like these: if you're going to hit like shit and pitch like shit you might as well do them both on the same night. What suxx of course is that this looked on paper to be the best pitching match up for us.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 The frightful issue is whether Santana's giant shit will be linked to Terry leaving him out there to complete his no-hitter. Even if there's nothing there at all, a did-Terry-injure-him controversy could turn into a giant energy suck.I watched this game from a restaurant, and I don't get this ballpark at all. I'd see somebody turn on a high curve that had lost its action and I'd think "Shit, that's going to be a hard shot off the wall," and it's in the upper deck. And I'm thinking "But he kind of topped it." Maybe the Yankz got the hand of the place. Don't swing so hard, focus on making good strong contact, and let the magic of YSIII do the rest.Under any circumstances, the Mets better come back and score 12 today.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 According to Adam Rubin, Terry took the blame and went out of his way to show how Saint Johan was looking out for his teammate: Collins originally wanted Santana to pitch on one extra day of rest Thursday, with R.A. Dickey pitching a day early and Jeremy Hefner unneeded for a spot start. Santana replied that he did not want to disrupt Dickey's groove. So Santana requested to go on normal rest Wednesday, albeit with a low pitch count. Instead, Collins opted for the two extra days following Santana's 134-pitch no-hitter. "He's rusty," Collins said. "It's my doing, not his. ... We erred on the side of caution and it cost us the game tonight."
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Good for Collins, I guess. Is there some way he can take the blame and throw himself on his sword for the offense?
