Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, MAY 2012The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for May 2012 is DAVID WRIGHT. This is the twelfth time David has been Player of the Month and it's his second win this season. Nobody has won more Schaefer Mets Player of the Month awards. David batted .347 in May, with an OBP of .439 and a slugging percentage of .561. He led the Mets in the following categories: Hits (34), Runs (17), RBI (16), and tied for the team lead in Stolen Bases with 3. David won the month with a very comfortable margin of victory, leading runner-up R.A. Dickey by 8.12 points. The nearest position player was Daniel Murphy, 9.69 points behind Wright's 25.93.The Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month for May is R. A. DICKEY. This is the seventh time that Dickey has been the top Schaefer pitcher, and his unprecendented fifth consecutive month winning the honor. (Pedro Martinez won four in a row in 2005.) R.A. was 4-0 in May with a 1.83 ERA in 5 starts. His 33 strikeouts were second only to Dillon Gee's 34. The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is a first-time winner, FRANK FRANCISCO. Francisco endured a brutal early May but then bounced back, finishing the month with 9 saves and a 4.76 ERA over 13 games. Francisco's 6.75 points put him just ahead of Ramon Ramirez (6.11) and Tim Byrdak (6.02).And finally, for the first time we'll honor the Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month. This award is given based on the number of points earned by position players who were not in the starting lineup. Our inaugural winner is JUSTIN TURNER, with 3.28 points. (Mike Baxter had 3.17 and Jordanny Valdespin had 3.15.) We'll also retroactively honor April's winner, MIKE BAXTER, who tallied 3.06 points in April, ahead of Turner's 1.72. Both players are currently injured, so let the talk of a jinx begin.
