Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 On SNY. Mike Pelfrey will pitch. He'll probably have a Ham and cheese sandwich at around 3:30, because that's what he does on game days. TBD will pitch for the Astros. He's historically been unpredictable. Sometimes he pitches a gem, other times he's knocked out in the first inning.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 was at the vet, missed the beginning of the game and didn't post the lineups. 1-1 Mets Astros right now, Pelf with ~40ish pitches through 3.Catcher's interference but Ron excuses Thole because the batter swung so late it was basically by him.Thole guns him down stealing next pitch anyway, with a nice cover and tag by Murphy. (he may have actually beaten it, but the throw and swipe must've made it look close enough)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Yeah, I thought he got in there also.Sucks to hear them talk about Hairston's oblique injury without Keith in the house to scoff.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Amazing to hear Ron admit that Lenny set himself up to look better than he was in center.Thank you, Ron!
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Lots of groundballs from Pelfrey, 50pitches through 4. He should throw a couple more so other guys can get some work in at this rate..
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 and a single by Bay after Ike has two on with no out and our friend Thole up.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 that wasn't Thole. Hairston singles for Thole up with the bases juiced and 1 out.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 RBI error by the SS for Pelfrey. still loaded. 3-1. Tejada.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Tejada ground sinto the FC. But they throw home and CAstro isn't pulled off the bag (called safe though) could we maybe get more than a single here? Murphy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Thanks, Astros, for piling on the sloppy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Bases cooked for Wright and...Tomahawked that sucker.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 3-2 count, 2 outs. just smooth and wonderful. Bay up as the 11th batter in this inning. walks.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Pelf: looking good or looking like he's pitching to the Astros?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Tejada looking smooth and confident. Didn't show Reyes' arm, but I think he's a potential defensive upgrade.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 It's also nice to see Wright in mid-season form with regard to wiping his snot on the inside of his shirt.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Edgy DC wrote:Pelf: looking good or looking like he's pitching to the Astros? It's Spring Training.but he kept the ball down in the zone, which is pretty much what's going to swing him from closer to 5 to closer to 4 in the ERA dept.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I'm certainly aware of what time of the year it is.Those of you not named Ceetar, you missed a heckuva game this eve. Definitely the kind of game you want to see this time of year. Wright totally had Livan set up there, with Livan missing badly bouncing a curveball away, and Wright new Livan was going to come back up and in.Good Thole game. Mostly good Bay game. Mostly clean D. And late contributions from Cory Vaughn and Matt Tuiasosopo. Gold really. Hope they dump some of this on the Yankees, too.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 We turned it off to have dinner at 1-1, turned it on after it was 8-1!Fish (crappy Gorton's frozen tilapia), kale, carrots and quinoa.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I haven't watched more than five minutes of Spring Training, total, which is typical of me.Broiled wild salmon with chimichurri sauce and sauteed spinach w garlic.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 see Edgy? This is how you make an IGT.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Saw good portions of this. It's nice when Wright kills mistakes; this is what a good Wright does. (Even through the TV, it had that sound.)Shumai that the baby wouldn't eat, fried bean-sprout patty things, reheated rice.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Astros release Livan Hernandez.Way to kill a guy's career, Wright. A former teammate. Over an exhibition game. Jerk.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Livan: Cut by Astros, signed by Braves. #luckyme
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Love Livan. He's got to be the all-time leader in opposing pitcher appearances among a wide swatch of Met fans at the present time.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Livan not unemployed for long, was picked up by the Braves within hours of his release so there might be some more of those starts vs Mets yet to come.Dude was an opening day starter last season, not often would you go from one of them to out of the game in just one year - even if the guy in question is 63 years old and 297 pounds.
