Old Man Nimmo is back in the Vegas lineup after having missed a few games as the result of (per Rubin) taking a ball off the nose in the cage. Went 2-for-3 in his return.

The eventual promotion of Nimmo should coincide with the acquisition of the White Sox' shortstop Ramirez. Imagine the high jinks that will ensue when Brandon and Alexei arrive at Citi Field and meet Branden and Alexa.

Walking boot for the prospect who's been schlepping his way through the system since Twenty Aught Eleven. Partially torn tendon in the left foot. He's on the 40-man and is scheduled to be in Spring Training with the big club.

Of top Met picks who eventually debuted in MLB as Mets, Brandon's limping into some notorious territory. A cursory glance down the list indicates nobody drafted first by Mets has waited this long to break in as a Met. Terrence Long was a first-round pick who needed five years, but he wasn't the first Met pick overall in his year, 1994. Alan Zinter, top Met pick of 1989, needed 13 years, but he wasn't a Met by 2002.

Then again, Kirk Presley might still make it, so who knows?

Nimmo is a just-turned 23 y/o prospect who, while being 2.5 years younger than his peers while in AA and nearly 5 years younger on average to his AAA teammates, was putting up 360+ OBAs in 2015
No one is promised a super-star from each draft choice -- even from 1st round picks -- nor has it been written yet that his chances at a big league career are over.

deGrom's age 22 season consisted of his first six starts in pro baseball, all at Kingsport in the Appalachian Rookie League, which was followed by him going on to miss the next 1+ years with elbow surgery.
Daniel Murphy at that same age was in A-ball, as was Granderson while Harvey was putting up a 4.50 ERA in AA
Stop thinking everyone not on the Harper/Trout timeline is some kind of miserable failure.

Just 1 Homerun so far, but his overall numbers are climbing after a slow 2016 start: .289/.361/.416 in 167 PAs with 14 of his 43 hits for XB (10 doubles, 3 triples, 1 HR)

Brandon's getting his PCL on: .325/.403/.521, five homers, 31 ribbies in 50 games.

Yeah, those footsteps Michael Conforto is hearing just may be from some Wyoming-made cowboy boots.

Now at .330/.405/.530 for the season, which means that since my May 23rd post he's had 23 hits in his last 61 [u:15eqoi2w]PAs[/u:15eqoi2w] (not ABs, but PAs) including 4 HRs and 11 XBHs in those 23 hits.
And, yeah it's Vegas, but 38% of his hits on the season (25 of 66) are for XBs
Compare all that to Conforto being [u:15eqoi2w]4 for 36[/u:15eqoi2w] in June and [u:15eqoi2w]18 for 119[/u:15eqoi2w] since the end of April.

Gary brought up the idea of farming out Conforto the other day (not specifically mentioning Nimmo but just in general). Keith brushed it aside but at the same time didn't rule it out completely and added that he didn't think such a move would be a soul-destroying maneuver from which a player never recovers. And sooner or later something's got to change somewhere, so when you figure in same position, LH batter, ...

If nothing else, the season for Nimmo thus far continues his pattern of taking some time to adjust to a new level but then adjusting to it quite nicely.
After almost double the number of PAs at Vegas 2016 compared to the partial season there after his 2015 promotion, his current 935 OPS is a sizable jump over last year's 810
