Re-release of 2004 title by new publisher, which is Janet Paskin's entertaining collection of anecdotes and interviews from the Mets' first year, spurred then by the 2003 Tigers challenging the Original record for futility (and failing -- suck on it, Detroit). I'm just the With New Foreword guy here.

Worthwhile read on any level you choose.

This one was a terrific read. I'd especially recommend it with a Prince foreword. The 1st ed. (2004, hardcover only) must have had a very short shelf life, because by the time I had decided to obtain a copy, not long after its release, the book was already OOP. It took me a while to find a used copy in very good condition and at a reasonable price. Even today, many sellers are asking for close to $200.00 for a 1st. ed. in newish condition.

Here's the companion book:

Tales of must have been some sort of a franchise because I recall numerous Tales of (fill in the sports team and bench) appearing mid-decade.

When the Markusen book was originally mentioned here on the CPF, I posted that my name is mentioned on the Acknowledgement page and some of my memories are in the book.
I also submitted some stories to Paskin, but don't know if any of them were included.
