The math here is a bit fuzzy.....he had four years left on his seven year $160 contract.....more info

The extension is being reported by ESPN's Buster Olney as being for $25 million in one year, 2016, on top of the final four years of his current contract. The new deal also includes a $25 million vesting option in 2017 and a $5 million buyout for that season. In total, the deal he will be paid $122 million guaranteed over the next five years, with the possibility of that number stretching to $147 million over six.

NEW YORK (AP) - CC Sabathia is staying with the New York Yankees, agreeing Monday to a new deal that adds $30 million to his existing contract.

Sabathia had until midnight to opt out of his current agreement, which had $92 million remaining over the next four years in $23 million annual salaries.

The new deal adds a $25 million salary for 2016 and gives the Yankees a $25 million option for 2017 with a $5 million buyout, a person familiar with the agreement told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Yankees had not yet announced the deal.

was hoping for at least another guaranteed year.

Does he still have opt out years? One would presume right? since it's an "extension"?

2016 is the extra year at 25 mills (actually 30 with the buyout).

Congrats, fatty. Congrats, MFY fans.
