Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I figured a Mets/Braves game in September needs an IGT ... even when one team is out of it, and even during a depressing losing streak, and even on a football Sunday.* Gee got down 1-0 - on an RBI hit by Chipper natch.* Beachy, hurling for 'Lanta, was striking out a ton but the Mets touched him for 4 in the 4th anyway. They IW'd Turner hitting 8th to load the bases w/2 outs ... then UNintentionally walked Gee for one run before Tejada sent 'em all home with a double. * Then the NYM defense decided to give some back as questionable plays by Turner, Tejada, and Pridie in CF (only Pridie's was an error) followed an Alex Gonzalez HR and helped re-tie the game.4-4 Top 5 - although as I type this a couple of singles tacked on to a high pitch-count just chased Beachy.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Sloppy defense sure seems contagious, doesn't it?Justin Turner makes a misplay as I type.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Walks all over today. Herrera just inherited a batter 0-2 and walked him.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Howie with the day off, too much Wayne for my likin'
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Wayne Hagin: "The last screwball pitcher I can recall who threw it with any success was Mike Norris with the A's in 1980."There was that Valenzuela guy.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 This was the guy who announced "coming into the game is ex-Detroit Tiger Octavio Dotel".No Mets soul.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Down by one, first and third, two outs, after a groundout by Reyes.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Bases loaded now for Paulino.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 S'moly crap. He walks him.The Mets have a new offensive weapon: the bases-loaded walk.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Best AB of the year for Paulino, he didn't move his bar of his shoulder , tied game, Vinters can't throw a strike.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Mets take the lead on a single by Tejada, but now we go to the bottom of the inning after Turner gets tagged at the plate. When was our last save situation?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Tejada's really had a great game. Even his outs were thoughtfully made.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Parnell gets the eighth inning. And they get the first out on a nice play by Tejada as I'm wondering why Reyes wasn't kept in for defense. Why wasn't Reyes wasn't kept in for defense?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I'm Bobby Parnell. I dig holes.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Gary with some faint praise of Parnell's fastball , "it's not an electric fastball even though it's 100mph", " not intimidating", not going over the plate now either.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 If the Braves had moved the fences in that was a goner..idiots
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Yet we escape behind Acosta.Leave him in to start the ninth.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Homer to center by Duda.Hope this second half by Lucas isn't a flukas.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 Heyward has three hits today and all of them are pieces de shit.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Seventeenth walk of the game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 That's at least the third Bang-Bang call at 1st and we haven't gotten any of them. Deserved at least one.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Strange game. The Braves half gave it to the Mets, but the Mets had the wherewithal to take it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 The Prado wears Devil (horns, that is, as he makes the last out)
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Nice.I've said this before but for a team that's having a relatively easy route to the playoffs I am not much impressed with the Braves. We split the season series 9-9 and ought to have done better than that.

I see Milwaukee pounding them in the first round of the playoffs.
