Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Really? I sit corrected.Know what was really goofy? In a game where the offense really found itself again --- two big guys back, driving the ball all over, working good at bats, waiting for their pitches, everybody in on the act --- Bay's strikeout was the Mets' only one of the game, at the worst possible time and looking as bad as he could look.

When you clicked on the link, the price automatically jumped to $10 (they didn't disclose the $3 service charge).2. Apparently the 7 was also the number of tickets they made available at this price as they were gone instantly. While it was a large crowd tonight there were still tons of empty seats that they Mets did not price at $10.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 The emergency catcher was Nick Evans, who came out to warm up Parnell in the 8th. He had a mask on but still, I'm not sure I'd want my debut catching experience to include catching Parnell's fastballs. When Murphy lined out to short in the 5th with the bases loaded he took off his helmet and held it over his face as he proceeded to let loose a long string of expletives. The helmet went flying when he returned to the dugout as well.If this is Beltran's swan song for the Mets it's not a bad way to go out. I'd like to see him crack one more homer.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 The Mets also jumped Washington, into fifth place in the Wild Card standings, gaining a game on first-place Atlanta (*.5 back) and gaining four games net. They're two behind this St. Louis team, in fact. Also notable is that Texas, since the Mets went down there and made them look silly, has been a juggernaut. They're the hottest team in the majors and have now won 12 in a row. They're now 4.5 up on Cleveland and not looking back.
