Judging by the sounds I made when Reyes knocked in Tejada after Jurrjens down down Reyes, I'm pretty sure I was having a Metgasm.

I hate the in-game interviews with the pitcher. Leave that shit for Ojeda and DJ Chunky.

They missed the Uggla HR. It has become the Kevin Burkhardt reality show.

"Where is Guys! Now? Is he in the bleachers, the photographer's booth, outside the locker room, the broadcast booth? He could be anywhere! Tune in to SNY at 7 PM tonight and find out where Guys! is. You can also watch the Mets play the Braves."

SNY strains to find as much for Guys! to do as possible. What they don't realize is that it detracts from the game which is what we are there to watch. If they want to make Guys! the star of the post-game, fine. If they want to make him the #2 announcer in the radio booth, fine. But SNY is handling this very badly. Just let us watch the Mets.

In the 2011 remake of the 1985 classic Just One of the GUYS!, Kevin "Guys!" Burkhardt goes undercover as a useful part of a regional sports network's broadcast team until everybody finds out that it's all just a charade and his saturation presence couldn't be any more useless.

Well, it could be, but that's for the sequel, Just One of the GUYS! I was talking to Dan Warthen before the game and he told me something really interesting about the way Tim Byrdak has changed his bullpen routine, as Brian McCann doubles into the gap off R.A. Dickey...Tim now stretches, then throws and then stretches again...McCann is caught off second...Dan says Tim really gets a little extra boost that helps him against righthanded batting...McCann rounds third and is racing for the plate...and we're seeing the results of that change of routine in outings like Tim had Tuesday when he got the Mets out of that jam in the seventh with two on and one out...McCann is out at the plate...GUYS?

I'd prefer less than more though I do like Burkhardt. He does call the action usually while he's doing the interview, which makes you think he'd rather be watching the game too.

Remember that there was some other outfit that wanted to hire Burkhardt a year or two back but Mets/SNY wouldn't let him go or share him.
Maybe as a result there was some sort of promise made to him of more air time.

Perhaps. They let him call a lot of the Spring Training games too.

They can give him pre-game/post-game, let him do an interview during an inning break, or bring his sideline subjects up to the booth where the regular announcers can interrupt him for action. Or let them interrupt him and cutaway anyhow.

Anyhow, sole possession of third place and passing Florida in the Wild Card standings as well, without the benefit of power, is a good night's work. Next up is another crack at Pittsburgh.

I think FOX wanted him for a Saturday game and SNY said no.
