The Mets played an all home-grown infield this year (Wright, Reyes, Murphy and Davis). I wondered if they have ever had done that before this year. If so, when, and who were the players?

Wright, Reyes, Tejada, Davis. 2010.

Before that was like '96 or something right?

I had thought that when Reyes was healthy, Tejada was sent down. Didn't remember them playing together on the same infield.
Thanks.
Before that?

Great minds thought alike ten months ago. Link will take you to a whole history of homegrown Met infields, who qualifies, who doesn't. In a nutshell, Davis, Tejada, Reyes and Wright broke the record for most starts by a purebred homegrown Met infield last year. It wasn't much of a record: 15 games by Kranepool, Boswell, Harrelson and Foli, all in 1971. The new record is 39, all in 2010.

Davis, Murphy, Reyes and Wright have started nine games together thus far.

You are counting Foli with 15 games??? I thought we were looking for infields that pretty much played the entire season together.

Greg, how is 14 games played as a cutoff "not so arbitrary."

Thanks.
That was a fun read, even the Yankee fan's reply.
