Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Watched this the other day, for the first time in many years.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Other than Dean's performance doesn't hold up that well.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Dolly Parton's bra doesn't hold up well. This thing sags like... well... Dolly Parton's bra. times 10. or something.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 Some of the scenes were okay, entertaining in a kitchy way: the knife fight at the planetarium and the game of chicken at the bluff. But I couldn't muster up any sympathy for Sal Mineo's character. The first thing we learn about him is that he likes to kill puppies, and later he gets a gun and starts shooting people. Was I supposed to care about his fate? The scenes with Natalie Wood and her father were pretty laughable. He doesn't want her to show him affection anymore. The unstated reason is probably that he's made uncomfortable by her extremely perky breasts. She kisses him on the cheek and he reacts by slapping her. He really handled that poorly!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Never actually saw.I take it I shouldn't go out of my way to catch it at the drive-in?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 Watch it if you're curious to see a slice of film history, a time capsule from the 50's, and James Dean in action in one of only three films that he made.If you're looking for a terrific movie... maybe not.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 been a while but yeah, I recall it seems tame, quaint and dated by today's standards.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I've seen the video for the Paula Abdul song "Rush, Rush." Would that more or less cover my bases?

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Oh, it's terrible and Keanu-laden.[youtube:85kr15us]yqyIaNWP0T0[/youtube:85kr15us]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I suppose there are more fantastic things than that on this earth, but I can't imagine what they would be.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 The movie reminds me a bit of 'Easy Rider', very symbolic of its era but hasn't aged well.
