Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 The world has gone mad. I just went over to gather some bulletin-board fan material and found this:Important Announcement from NYYFans.comBy Jim Frasch NYYFans.com Staff Writer May 21, 2010Dear NYYFans Community:When I started NYYFans.com as Bronx-Bombers.com in 2000 I never thought it would evolve into the dynamic community that it is today. At the heart of that community is a core of users that have been around since the very beginning. With that core weve added over 22,000 users, and together weve cheered, celebrated, commiserated, and sometimes even booed. We experienced 9-11 together, we chipped-in to pay Don Zimmers fine together, weve gone to games together, and we rallied against MLB together when they came after the sites name in 2003. While there are many other places to talk about the Yankees these days, few have the passion and insight for baseball and the Yankees that NYYFans has, and without question none have the real community bond that makes NYYFans such a special place. Its because of that core community that, when faced with mounting server costs, instead of shutting down the site altogether, I have opted to transfer ownership of the site to a partner who has the financial resources to maintain it properly, and will ensure that the community can continue to evolve for many years to come.Today I am thrilled to announce that effective immediately NYYFans.com is owned and operated by SportsNet New York, better known as SNY. As you may (or may not) know, SNY is New Yorks only 24/7 sports network and does a very good job providing unfiltered, unbiased coverage of New York sports and the Yankees. On the digital side, they have had strong partnerships with Yankee blogs you may be familiar with Bronx Banter and WasWatching.com and Yankees columnists Sam Borden and Dan Graziano. I know our community will fit nicely within this mix.So whats going to change here? Very little! That is why SNY was such a good fit for NYYFans.com. While there may be some SNY branding, for the most part everything else will stay the same. The freedom to express your opinions and talk about whatever youd like will remain just as it is now. You will not be bombarded with annoying marketing messages. And we will continue to discuss our passion for the Yankees as we have for the past ten years! I will even remain as the forum administrator for at least the next year.Thank you for being a part of this awesome site, and lets go Yankees!Regards,Jim FraschFounder, NYYFans.com
