Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I just watched part II of the 1963 promo film (part I posted in the IGT). With middle infielders usually assigned low numbers, has any other doubleplay combination --- even perhaps for a single day --- ever donned higher numbers on their backs than Al Moran and Ron Hunt's 40 and 33?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Both those guys sorta stole jobs from guys who were still around and wore lower numbers from the year before, is my best gess.Very strange anyway.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Good call, and on September 13 of 1963, Schreiber debuts at second with Moran at short, for a total of 83.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 84--Last Monday. Castillo, 2B (#42). Cora, SS (#42).86--9/29/63. Hunt misplaced his jersey and wore Schreiber's #43 at 2B. Schreiber also wore #43 at SS.
