Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Spring Training standings, if nothing else, give us something of a glimpse of what a world might be like if leagues were based --- as some might advocate --- entirely on geographical proximity, with most teams east of the Mississippi training in Florida and most west of the Miss in Arizona. Mostly.Anyhuck, the Phillies are clearly and shamefully trying to steal this year's Grapefuit Cup title by playing fewer games than their opponents, but Tempa Bay is holding out bravely. It should surprise few of you that the thunderous batsmanship of Chris Carter and Russ Adams and the majestic arms of Nelson Figueroa and Hisanori Takahashi have the Mets right in the mix. RIGHT IN THE MIX!Meaningful games in March, baby! Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Thanks to the Dodgers and Reds vamoosing this year, Florida and Arizona have 15 clubs each now. I wonder if the odd number explains any of what seems to be more off-days this spring than usual. Eh, prolly not.I think the Mets should kick it old school and train in Hot Springs, Arkansas next year.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I suspect that they deal with the odd number of teams by scheduling those B-squad games.
