Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Spending a lot of time in the division this spring and, in fact, have yet to play an American League club.Only sort of half a regular in the lineup today, with an unlikely number three hitter. Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Mets get two in the first on a sacrifice fly RBI by Dr. Johnny Fever and an RBI single by Ike Davis. They give one back in the bottom half of the inning due to an error by Davis --- his third of the spring, all leading to runs.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Other high/ low lights:Ike's hit was off a lefty.Fernando goes yard off Estes. The Nats' left fielder, who seems to make the web gems every time he plays the Mets (Willie Harris?) had two more in the first inning to save several runs - one catch in the corner, one over the wall to save a 3 run dinger.Ike's error means Pelfrey only gave up 3 ER in that inning. The wind is blowing out toward right center. Later
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Two hits off lefties for Ike brings him to 3-for-4 in five PAs off lefties so far this spring.I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Henry Blanco gets an RBI single to put the Mets up.First week of spring is seeing a lot of offense.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Eddie Kunz, a disaster his last time out, gets back on the horse and throws a scoreless inning --- it's probably more important that it was walkless as well. He's got his ERA down to 27.00 and and is followed by a shutout inning from Niesen. Niesen's name was spelled "Nielson" in a recent prospect issue of Inside Pitch.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Fernando Martinez belts another!
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 That also makes him 4-4.[/quote:1676ptqe]And don't forget that old adage. "This is that time of the year when the pitchers are (supposed to be) ahead of the hitters. "Because of the compressed reporting times and special pre-ST camps these days, do they say that any more?Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Sean Green came in with the bases loaded and two outs, letting one run score, but he struck out three in 1 1/3 IP.We now have a Travis Blackley sighting.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Mets score 14.For those of you who weren't listening, they missed the kick after the first TD. So they had Henry Blanco run for two after the second TD.Later

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Pelfrey unveiled his new splitter, which was apparently an effective pitch.
