Wow... Ike Davis just SMASHED a grand slam. It landed among the picnic tables behind the "grassy knoll."[/quote:2wqdhm52]

Opposing pitcher handedness: righty?

Francisco Samuel: 40-man roster righty.

Final is 17-11. Jets win!!

Then maybe it wasn't really him but rather a mystery 'second hitter'.

Oh for fucks sake, I am watching the encore of the game today, first siting og McGwire has Burkhardt saying that yeah the Cards gave Holliday $120 million but that guy(McGwire )was their biggest acquisition of the offseason.

Didn't even look like that bad a pitch. Wasn't that good either, but mercy, he cleared the back of the picnic area with some room to spare.

Heard about 10 minutes of WFAN late last night and all three calls I heard concerned the fact that the Mets "HAD" to make Ike the starting 1B for opening day ... "he's 23 years old already and Murphy's not going to cut it"
The host was doing his best to calm them all down but apparently two good games in ST trumps reports of trouble with both breaking balls and LHPs plus the drawback of barely 200 ABs above A-ball.

He's played all three Mets games thus far, but he's made potentially catastrophic errors in the last two.

As it's hard to expect him to keep hitting at this rate, perhaps folks should be rooting for him to stop fielding at this rate.

Every scouting report I've read or heard about him says that he is a very good defensive first baseman - soft hands, good range, strong arm. I'm not worried about his defense. Two games do not a career make or break.

Two games do not a career make or break.[/quote:vip5gjtq]
And I'm certainly not suggesting otherwise.

Of course you weren't.
That was a general response to the fans (read that radio callers) who would elevate Davis, or any other prospect, to Hall of Fame status after a handfull of games.
It wasn't specifically directed to anyone here.
Just waxing Philosophical.
