Reyes scratched
By Adam Rubin

Jose Reyes has been scratched from today's game. He said the initial physical raised a small concern with doctors, so he needed to do additional blood work this morning. He'll visit the doctor again at noon. Reyes added that he has no physical problems. "I'm fine," he said. "Nothing serious."

* Lining up the rotation for the season, Mike Pelfrey makes his Grapefruit League debut Saturday, Oliver Perez on Sunday, John Maine on Monday and Johan Santana on Tuesday.

* Lefthander Hisanori Takahashi has returned from the Dominican Republic after securing his work visa.

* Righthander Josh Fogg, set back by a problem with a side muscle while swinging, hopes to be on a mound within days. He's only been long-tossing.

* Jason Bay still makes his debut today vs. Cardinals. The lineup:

Matthews, cf
Castillo, 2b
Wright, 3b
Bay, lf
Murphy, 1b
Francoeur, rf
Tatis, dh
Blanco, c
Tejada, ss

Dickey, rhp

Color me antsy about not seeing Reyes out there.

His blood was still spinning when they first tested it.
They're hoping it's calmed down by this point.

Young David Wright with an opposite-field homer![/quote:1vregsay]

Florida-swamp-gas mirage. Obviously.

That's Minnie The Moocher sung by Cab Calloway..[/quote:2gtyl0bf]

Thanks. I had wondered that for a while. The Marxes sang something almost like that during their "The Country's Going to War" number near the end of Duck Soup, but it didn't sound quite like what the PA was playing.

Now I can stop wondering!

R.A. Dickey has given up four runs now and is still pitching in the third.

This commercial that MLB Network shows, where Peter Gammons is sitting there listing baseball players (Dustin Pedroia, CC Sabathia, Albert Pujols, Zack Greinke, Tim Lincecum, Adam Wainwright, Kirby Puckett, Johnny Bench, Joe DiMaggio...) reminds me of Bubba in Forrest Gump. If they're trying to make him look like a babbling fool, they're doing a good job.

Excellent. I'm bringing that Fakes cheer with me for when Sarge comes up.

This tells me that he should concentrate on hitting to opposite field more often.

By the way, seven Met runs in the fifth and sixth greet the Calero news and the Metzies lead 11-6.

Omir Santos is 2-2, batting 1.000 in his fight for survival. Ike Davis has walked in both of his plate appearances.

In terrible news, Gary Matthews has thrown a runner out at second.

Sean Green, shaking with thoughts of Kiko taking his job, gives up four runs with an assist from an errant Ike Davis, who is not making this team. The Mets lead is down to 11-10.

Well, then, maybe you should ignore my last post.
