Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Gm 1 -- in NYY, Fri, Oct. 16 - 7:57 PM Gm 2 -- in NY, Sat, Oct. 17 - 7:57 PM Sun, Oct 18 -- OFFGm 3 -- in Anaheim, Mon, Oct. 19 - 4:13 PM Gm 4 -- in Anaheim, Tue, Oct. 20 - 7:57 PM Wed, Oct 21 -- OFFGm 5* -- in Anaheim, Thu, Oct. 22 - 7:57 PM Fri, Oct 23 -- OFFGm 6* -- in NY, Sat, Oct. 24 -- 4:13 PM Gm 7* -- in NY, Sun, Oct. 25 -- 8:20 PMAll games on FOX - plus there's also the usual caveat about how if the other series gets done early then some of these 4 o'clock games can get pushed to the prime-time slot. And then there's the weather. A rainout either today or tomorrow I guess brings Sunday into play although I don't know how that works with FOX's football schedule. It would also screw up the Yanx plans for (apparently) deciding to go with a three-man starting staff - something these extra off-days allows teams to do and also helps in MLB's seemingly endless desire to make post-season baseball as unlike regular season baseball as possible.Yanx have added something named Freddy Guzman to their roster at the expense of Eric Hinske. Guzman is apparently some speedy glove guy who played a few games in late September and is allowed to be on the post-season roster due to some abuse of the rule that's not supposed to allow that sort of stuff even though it happens every year. Sounds like they want to try and out-run the running Angels and figured if one Brett Gardner is good then a second is even better.Sabathia vs Lackey for game 1
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Raissman today opines that they , FOX & MLB , will do all they can to get these games in tonight and tomorrow , FOX he says would hate to use Sunday as they of course have the NFL and that brings in more ad revenue yyybbb . Could be a late start tonight IOW.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 And, since Monday's game in Anaheim is an afternoon game, they won't want to play Sunday night in New York.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 This fucking better get fucking better.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Mark Grace's glasses were fogging up in the pre-game talking about the Yankees .I fear this will be a short series.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Lackey's got the breaking stuff working now-- made Jeter look Utley-trying-to-turn-a-DP silly with 2 on and 2 out.A couple of chipped runs, or a walk and a HR, and the Angels could steal this one.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 That is one butt-ugly ballpark.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 There is nothing, absolutely nothing I like about Rodriguez ....just the way he runs annoys me...the way he tried to bowl over the catcher annoys me...ugh
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Ugh. If indeed 'you are what you eat,' then the Angels must have had NYY Steakhouse send up some Shit Tartare for the pregame spread.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 metirsh: the way he tried to bowl over the catcher annoys me <<<The only thing missing was his purse.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 Amazing how often MFY opponents put 'Play Like Shit' into their game plans.Angels look so bad they could qualify as Twins.LFer made an error, CFer made an error, pitcher made an error, and the SS & 3B combined to make an error and every fuckin one of them contributed to a run.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I checked the Farmers Almanac and the Aura expires tonight at 11:05 ... we'll see what they know.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 This sucks, I don't even know why I'm watching.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 This sucks, I don't even know why I'm watching.[/quote:288isj4u]me neither , and with that I am off to bed...
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Well, that leaving he bases loaded part didn't suck.11:05 is looming large on the horizon -- but CC doesn't readthe Farmers Almanac.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Hush little baby don't say a wordAnd never mind that noise you heardLet's GO Angels!
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Five years after Mariano retires I will nod my cap to him as the greatest closer in post season ... until then he can suck it.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Well, hey, it was relatively quick.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2009 Author Posted October 17, 2009 Sad that an 8-1/2 inning game with a total of 5 runs scored going "only" 3 hours 18 minutes is described as "relatively quick" but that's what it's come to -- and for a Yanqui game that's practically the equivalent of speed chess. The 8-1/2 inning 2-1 NL game clocked in at 3:05. That one was actually moving along quite nicely until the Phils trotted out 5 different pitchers for the bottom of the 8th

I ended up having two pints and dinner before the game ended. In Cholly's postseason world, EVERYBODY's potentially an OOGY. (I can understand this with, say, Ethier and his massive L-R splits.)
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 HAD to be Jeter that hit the home run, right? With THIS broadcasting crew? The praisekakke dribbled on for about five minutes, while other stuff was happening onscreen. I'd almost rather listen to McCarver sing.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 And they haven't stopped talking about Jeter, it's like watching the gay channel I would imagine.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Oh, A.J.-- I knew there was a reason I liked you, you generous SOB.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I don't particularly dislike Giuliani, but I just kinda wanna say fuck him right now.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 If it takes Macier Izturiz to stand up for what's right, then OK, let it be Macier Izturiz.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Two on and nobody out and Jeter grounds into a double-play.Let's get Johnny Turncoat.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Johnny goes down. Pour it on, Angels.
