Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 David's Ks by year:113113115118and now his first inning K was #116 this season in 125-200 fewer plate appearances than his other full years and 23 games still to go
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 And, just to pile on while I'm at it, that 1st inning mis-throw was his 3rd bad play in, what, the last 10 innings or so although I think he only winds up with one error out of it all (the old "you don't assume the DP" call plus no one advanced on that throw) but tonight it led to all 4 runs.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I hate Cody Ross anyway.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Hey David Wright! BOOOO!!!!!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 BOOOOO! Go back to rehab! Bring back Hotline!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 If not for all these home runs, we'd be doing pretty damn well against the Marlins. Also, if we had ham, we could have ham and eggs... if we had eggs.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 We'd need a pan, some heat source, a kitchen ...
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Did they say why Gary is awol? He's always there.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Didn't catch anything (got in a bit late; have been watching the Obama speech). But hey, look-- runs, Maw!
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Forgot the Prez was on.Note to self: put on ESPNews while getting dressed in the morning.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Good thing you pinch-hit for Thole there, Jer. You wouldn't want him to get game experience against lefties or an extra two innings of catching time, or anything like that.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Soon, Padma, my love.

He's leading off an inning for god sakes. Wouldn't Cory Hotline's single looked just as good with a couple guys on?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 US Open Sores.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 It takes some work to insert yourself into the game so much without making a single move that bucks conventional wisdom. I mean, if you're not going to take some chances here... where the hell else are you going to ever do so?With the current Gangsta in Chief, there really IS no reason to watch these except that we're Met fans. None.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Third game in a row at Shea. Why? Hard to say, really. Pat Misch did not impress.David Wright failing to grasp the concept of throwing home on that play also did not impress.Jerry rarely impresses.I guess Sean Green had a good outing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Wright had three choices on that play and none of them were really bad. 1) go home - prevent the run but probably miss out on the DP. Killing the big inning is more important early in the game2) go to 2nd (Keith & Ron's choice) - best chance at the DP but kind of slowly hit so need two good throws 3) do what he did - one sure out but a chancier throw to 1st even though he still had the DP if he's accurateHis screw-up IMO was in execution, not decision.Of course immediately afterward Misch misched.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Given the anemic offense (yes, even with Beltran and Wright back) I think keeping them off the board was the best choice. A throw home for the force would also have been one sure out and Uggla is not a fast runner so a DP wasn't out of the question.
