Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I'm not the biggest fan of Mota, but I think Fielder overreacted. Sure, Fielder being hit was in retaliation for Ramirez being hit earlier in the game, but Mota threw at Fielder in the proper way*. Mota didn't "bean" Fielder as the linked article worded the incident, he hit Fileder in his ample belly (or maybe it was the upper thigh of his left leg). It's not like he threw at his head or knees, where the risk of injury is far greater.*Proper way as in old school hardball. If you're going to throw a purpose pitch you aim for the ribs where the message is delivered with minimal risk of injury.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I will never forget the look on Piazza's face in Spring training a few years back when Mota drilled himWhat a punkFielder should have waited in the parking lot for him
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 It was Shef who got Mota out of there, wasn't it?
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I will also never forget the horrificly awful attempt by Shawn Estes to bean Clemens.
