G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 From a Snooze article bemoaning the lack of starpower in the upcoming race to complete the term of former Sen. Clinton.]It's all enough to make veterans of New York's political fray grow downright wistful for the days when Kennedy, Moynihan and Clinton held the same seat that Gillibrand and Maloney are now preparing to spar over."Those were big political players - they were the Babe Ruths and Mickey Mantles of their day," said Bill Cunningham, a former chief of staff to Moynihan and a longtime adviser to Mayor Bloomberg."Now it's almost like the Mets have taken over.""There's lots of bobbled balls, they're not hitting and they're not pitching too well, either," Cunningham added of the messy first innings of the Gillibrand-Maloney faceoff.Bill Cunningham is an insecure monument-kisser. Hope you like the taste of granite, a-hole.

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Oh please. Gillibrand's got a heck of a future.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 ]It used to be that political giants represented New York in the U.S. Senate - towering figures like Robert F. Kennedy, Daniel Moynihan and Hillary Clinton. One of whom actually lived in the state. This is the same sort of article we see in the sports sections all the time; writers whining about the lack of "superstars" to write about because they think covering these lesser mortals makes their job more boring and less important. And isn't that really what it's all about?
