Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Several "regional" matchups going on in this final IL weekend of the season.AL leads 113-96 at this point and will almost certainly "win" the series for the 5th straight year.Cubs drew first blood in the all-Chicago series 5-4 this afternnon (Friday day game at Comiskey!)- Marlins @ Tampa (Johnson & Shields)- Ohio series Cincy @ Cleveland- and the 'Beltway' teams, Washington @ Baltimoreand then there are those of particular interest to us:- Philly is at Toronto (Hamels v Romero)Rollins is apparently going to be benched for at least two games on account of he ain't hitting- Boston @ Atlanta (Becket v Jurrjens)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Phils also down 4-0 (in the 5th) but Toronto probably had to earn theirs rather than have it handed to them on a fuckin' platter.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Hamels ejected from that game for arguing balls and strikes.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Phils lose, Braves lose, Marlins losing w/2 out in the 9th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 J.A. Happ & his phellow Philly phriends toss a 5-hitter at the Jays during a 10-0 Sat. afternoon win -- so we gots some work to do tonight.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 The Braves lose to the Sawx 1-nil, a decision we can all get behind.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 Marlins lose to the Rays in the 9th -- tie-breaking Sac Fly followed a single, SB and WPAnd Bruce Freakin Chen surfaced in KC tonight. Everyone's favorite Chinese/Panamanian was OK for 3 innings but eventually took the loss v the Pirates. Now 32 and more than a decade removed from being one of the better pitching prospects in baseball, he hadn't pitched at all for a year or so and not in the majors for several years before re-surfacing in the Royals' system this year and got called up for today's game.

Utley. 5-4, Phils, after 4.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 Philly wins - Atlanta wins - Marlins lose.* Blue Jays first blow a 4-1 lead, then get the first two on in the 9th against Lidge in a 1-run game but can't score: Pop-out - Pick-off!! (the pinch-runner off 2nd) - Ground-out* Braves beat Boston 2-1; Rookie call-up Tommy Hansen now 4-0The Braves are pitching (lost 1-0 yesterday) and have the back of their pen straightened out now (Soriano & Gonzalez) but still aren't hitting.
