Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 ... is that the BoSox just put up a 3-spot in the 8th (and are still batting) to take a 4-3, thereby ruining C.C. Rider's otherwise good night (3-hitter thru 7).Now I'm just deciding whether I want the Sox to pile it on now or take the game into extras (like about 17 innings) and ruin their pen for the weekend.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Extras. Give me 22 innings, Yankees and Red Sox. And then I don't even care who wins.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Well, we'll have to settle for a 9-inning, humiliating, 9th straight this season loss to the BoSox.And, btw, only those two teams could turn a game - which was 1-0 for most of it - into a 3-hour 40-minute, 8-1/2 inning job.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I watched the Sox comeback and Papelbon's save. It's " inconceivable " to Kay that his beloved's can't win a game form the red SoxI was watching NBC Nightly News tonight with Brian Williams and they actually showed an Alex Rodriguez at-bat in last nights game, they showed it because the Fenway crowd were singing " you took steroids, you took steroids".......it's was wonderful but a little odd I thought for Nightly News.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I just can't muster enthusiasm that the Yanqs lost. I was sure the Mets would win this series after the great win on Tuesday. And then, though they were hard plays, I feel like a little better leather by our two best position players and we win yesterday.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 It doesn't make up for the Met loss ... but I'll take it.Braves & Marlins also lost which should help keep our tail-end clear for a while.Braves split a 4-game with the suddenly tenacious Pirates. All 4 were 1-run games and the Pittsburgh's came back today to win in come-from-behind walk-off fashion.
Guest Hawkeye57 Guests Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Definitely got a boost in moral seeing the BoSox beat the MFYs, after watching the Mets give another game to the Phillies in extras. With all the money spent by the MFYs on players, how are they not able to defeat the Sox? As big of a Sabathia fan that I am, I was glad to see the Sox come back. Both teams are coming off divisional losing streak so it should be a very interesting interleague series.
