Fascinating how many would-be godlings there are out there trying to re-invent the universe.

Perfectly normal. I did the same thing years ago. Eight team league, 20-game seasons, using baseball cards for the players and this deck of cards I got in the five-and-dime for the plays.

It went for 11 seasons. I especially liked the fact that it was unrealistic and you could have Pete Rose being a massive flop while Chuck Estrada and Bob Aspromonte were all-time greats.

I can still remember the teams and many of the pennant races.

It wasn't as elaborate a setup as those guys executed, but I was creator, commissioner, play-by-play announcer and de facto offense/defense for the North American Basketball League (NABL) in the winter and spring of 1974. We had teams in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Ponce, San Juan, Kingston, Managua, Acapulco, Tijuana, Mexico City, Quebec, Toronto, Montreal, Santo Domingo and, I think, Vancouver. All games were joined with maybe seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter, played out on my new Nerf basketball setup. Didn't save the standings, darn it.

Four sets of "results" matrices (based on placement on two sets of axes-- power/no power, speedy/not speedy). There were awards each year and trades... and the underside of my uncle's utility table may or may not have been decked out like the Astrodome. 2-time MVP Ruben Sierra kicked entirely too much ass.

My brother and I had an entire imaginary pro wrestling promotion going. We self-published three illustrated magazines, which still exist but are much too weird to share or even explain. When I was much younger, I drew my own baseball cards. That was more about the style of the card itself,how the borders looked and stuff than the picyures, which were terrible.

The Tantalion Traders Grain Exchange Park is the first stadium that led righthanders with no prior experience in switch hitting to turn around and bat lefty. Then again, maybe they have 90' walls.
