If Johan throws an up-and-in fastball toward the FoxSports booth, will that shut Karros up?

I'd take Dibble over this a-hole-- at least Robby's Kenny Powers-brand amusing.

Dibble is a moron. I hear him locally on the Nats games and he's beyond bad. He's made XM 175 off-limits for me between 4 and 7.

Oh, I know. But he's just about to that so-bad-he's-good point with me.

Unlike this defensive support for Johan. Which is just tragic.

Beltran is ridiculously good!!

The Mets should clone him.

I hereby eat my words-- or, rather, my snide pregame implications-- about Sheffield starting today.

With Sheff heating up, this lineup is looking very, very livable.

Another run-scoring double for Sugar Pants? Sweet!

The Mets might want to look into cloning Wright too, while they're at it.

Sheffield runs pretty well for an old guy.

Side note: Did you know that you can see the Civil Rights struggle in Ryan Howard's eyes? It looks a little like a stye, or a confusing, hard-hit grounder-- look carefully, or you'll miss it.

I agree with that...but.

As Wright's leadership shows, this team doesn't need to be a bomber team. And Sheffield isn'tthat anymore either. He is doing well, getting singles, high OBP, but he's not hitting home runs, so to pretend he's in there for power..silly. But they can be a fast aggressive team, and win, without the power Delgado brings.

Karros is having a lovefest for the Mets the past two innings. I can't believe we were saying such mean things about him earlier.

Bases loaded for Cora . Time to finish the Giants off right here.

Maybe not.

Even if he hasn't been launching balls over walls, he's been showing the mechanical signs of some thump-- power comes from bat speed, and his wrists seem to be propelling ye olde bat head pretty quickly through the zone (if he's getting around on Lincecum). Manuel appears to think similarly.

Murphy and Reed aren't markedly faster on the basepaths than Sheff.

I stand by 'em. Even when he's saying nice things about the team, it's "heart" and "they were fighting themselves last year" brand pablum; he kinda sounds like a younger, melanin-and-HOF-cred-deficient Joe Morgan.

Scoring more runs ==> good
Leaving bases loaded ==> bad

Does anyone else enjoy watching Sandoval as much as I do?

I mean, he swings at everything, and makes Reyesian baserunning choices... but man, that bat speed and coordination. And he's got good hands and instincts at third, too (especially considering he's got Murphy-in-OF level prior experience there).

Oh, and hello, Merkin!

That ball was high enough and carried far enough that I would generally expect the left fileder to call the shortstop off and make that play.

Let's get a few back.

That water looks nice, it really is a beautiful place to watch a game on a
warm and clear day.

Between the water, and the walkable, open concourses, it puts the "park" in ballpark.

At night, though, the winds can make it murder on the underdressed fan. While visiting fam, caught a late August Giants-Cubs game a few years back on a Saturday night, and got caught cold and cashless... ended up having to sign up for a credit card under a phony name, just for the free fleece blanket. (Yay, fraud!)

Sheff's got his average up to .270 -- which isn't great, but a lot better than it was.
