Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 They were handed the insurance runs they needed.Expecting more out of all the runners we had is not greed.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Had it all the way. Also, immediately after the drop, one of my friends walked in the room and pointed out that she was a Cardinals/Yankees fans, which I thought was just an attempt to goad me into suicide. Turns out her stepmother is Enos Slaughter's daughter. Neat.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Sometimes this Mets team wins despite themselves. Not often enough, mind you, but sometimes. Tonight seems to have been one of those games.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Ugh. A win is a win, I know, but why doesn't it feel that way?

Wright is starting to mash. Reyes doing more would be nice. Beltran is a god among mortals.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I'm hoping too but this year smells a lot like 2007 already.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Do I get any Schaefer as the last minute IGT guy? We did win
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 The bullpen is such a huge difference than 2007. Parnell looks great. Frankie hung on. I really am happy despite the ugliness of the win. I'm not a believer in karma or superstition or whatever but in 2007 or 2008 we lose this one. This bullpen reminds me more of the bullpen from 2006 that contributed to the Mets running away and hiding. Philly's starting pitching sucks. I feel great. Let's go Mets.

You've been wrong in the past, here's hoping you're wrong again.

Philly's starting pitching sucks. I feel great. Let's go Mets.Parnell should be startingWhen Parnell's starting, his fastball is dialed back significantly (from 97-98 to low 90s). Also, his secondary stuff is iffy. This, along with his not-so-overwhelming minor-league numbers (compiled as a starter) paint a picture of an effective fastball-slider late-inning reliever; he COULD be an effective starter, but it seems kind of unlikely.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Wasn't worried for a second. Francsisco gets paid the big-boy dollars to deal with situations just like that.In some ways, Putz' inning was more important. Glad to see him getting it done too.
