The starting rotation with Shields and Scott Kazmir signed through 2011, and Garza and Andy Sonnanstine renewable can easily remain intact. But the club might choose to trade one, with Kazmir the top candidate. He was erratic down the stretch and in the playoffs, but his age (24) and his reasonable salaries in the future ($6 million, $8 million and $12 million) could attract a wealthy contender to offer young coal for the Rays furnace.

They will have David Price as a starter next season too , are you reading this somewhere or is this your own feeling?. I don't know why they wouldn't just keep them all , the Kazmir money is nothing really.

The Rays are definitely a lot stronger (both at the ML level and on the farm) on the mound than at the plate so it's logical that they might want to deal arms for sticks at some point and one could see Kazmir as the bait.
I'm not sure they're ready to do that just yet (they did the opposite last winter with Delmon Young for Garza) but they'll probably want OF help if/when they do.

If I were them, I wouldn't fix what ain't broke. They'll need a DH and a leftfielder, but I wouldn't touch the pitching to get them.

But that's what small market teams have to do... trade from strength to fix weaknesses. They can't afford to just go out and buy the parts they need.

Guys who get traded tend to get traded.
