Cubs - Brewers

Frayed Knot

Outplay the Brewers this weekend and we're in - no matter what happens in the Phils series.

Starts out at 8PM (EDT) tonight under Milwaukee's dome *on ESPN* nationally.
Jeff Suppan going for the home folks - has not fared well in his last 4 starts
vs Ryan Dempster - Chicago's already named Game 1 starter.

Saturday: Bush (or maybe Sheets, but probably not) - Lilly
Sunday: Sabathia - Marquis

Cubs leading the series 8-5 so far, although Milwaukee won 4 of the first 6 so it's 6-1 Cubs most recently.

Yovani Gallardo only threw 64 pitches last night for the Crew and the speculation in my neck of the woods is that he would start a one-gamer vs. the Mets if necessary. Nothing has been confirmed though.

Does anyone think that the Cubs will intentionally lose because they would rather face the Dodgers than the Mets in the first round?

I think they'd rather face us and face our bully - which would not be as deep in the postseason.

Cubs go down like a card castle.

Like the Mets in fact.

A lot of credit here has to go to the Brews and their choice to go to a relief manager, so to speak. That's what? Six in a row?

I left with yesterday's game in the fifth inning, still a no-hitter, to visit my friends in Baltimore. Shortly after leaving I called them. He, a Cubs fan, promised to keep tabs on the game and call me with any lead changes.

I arrived and he said, "The Cubs are up by three going into the ninth."

I responded, "They've got to use Kerry Wood!"

Then his wife responded with, "No, Honey, they're up by four."

"They've got to save Wood for tomorrow!"
