Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Murphy appears ready to be a big leaguer.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Yay Murphy!Singles in Beltran, Tatis to third.1-1.

My guess is that he won't be a regular starting infielder, but he might be a decent 2B/SS bench player.I don't know if it will happen, but I'd like to see Murphy get some time at second base this year. I'd love him to take over the position next year, if he's up to it.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Yeah, I mean this is easy to say when he's batting .500 but of all the players we've gotten a glimpse of, Murphy at least looks like he knows what he's doing up there. Very good hands/wrists with the stick, knows how to work a count, etc.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I like Murphy! Curious to see if he can keep it going once the teams have a better look at him.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Evans tells bucket to get lost.Single makes it 2-1 Mets.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 As I was saying, Evans is a superstar in waiting
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Evans delivers, singles in a run.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Four guys in the game today who started the season in the minors.
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Beltran appears to be wearing socks today
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Evans says "Take that, 'Poolers! I belong!"
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 When I see "D. Murphy" in the box score, I still think "Dale."

Even his 3-double debut had more well-placed hits than anything really roped.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Santana's out. Jose up with two out and two on.

I didn't say he sucked, or would always suck, or was incapable of hitting a single off the shitty Padres pitcher, or anything.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Would have been nice to give Johan some breathing room there. The six Ks and 2 walks make me think he's not throwing too many pitches and can go deep.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Yikes, that is high. Hopefully he can keep it going.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 7 pitch 5th inning is good, however.
