Gary Cohen reports that John Maine's MRI reveals a mild strain of the right rotator cuff.

They're emphasizing that it's minor, FWIW.

I read somewhere back in spring training or something (very specific source, I know) that "strain" is MLB euphemism for "tear." IIRC, this was specifically in a hamstring context. I can't decide whether I'm terrified or if I just don't have a point here.

Well, they say he'll miss one start but with two off days in the coming week or so they won't have to replace him in the rotation.

I guess Omar could be holding his cards close to his vest in case he's trying to get a starter before the deadline and doesn't want to be held up.

Sort of like dealing for Roberto Hernandez before news of Duaner's injury leaked....?
