Questions about Featured Archives

A couple questions about finding stuff:

* So the Active threads in the main forum currently contain about 8 months worth of stuff - everything that was posted (at least I presume everything) from present back to December of 2007

* The 'Archived Threads' link under that shows one page of stuff all listed as from June of '06

* And now the Featured Archives' contains selected threads from June '05 thru May '07

So is there other stuff that's been lost, or is it all just somewhere I'm not seeing?
- Like where can one find threads dating between May '07 (where the 'Featured' threads end) thru Dec '07 (where the active starts)
- or anything from prior to the active forum that was NOT includded in the 'Featured' section?

Yes. But as the forum continues to grow, some of the early 2008 stuff will roll off into the archives. That probably won't happen until after the current season ends.

This confused me. I think you meant June of '05?

I'm not aware of any threads that have been lost, but I suppose it's a possibility that some may have fallen through a crack for one reason or another.

They can all be found in the off-line archives:

(Just select June 2007, or July 2007, or whatever from the dropdown box.)

The reason that the "Featured" list stops at May 2007 is because that's as far as the Giant Squid got before archiving got put on hold because of last year's move to a new server.

Archiving has now been restored, but the Squid has relinquished his role as the archivist. From May 2007 on, all posts exist, but none have been designated as exceptional. (None of the current admins, myself included, have opted to fill the Squid's shoes, if squid indeed wear shoes.)

The Featured Archives were taken off-line because they were taking up too much database space. I didn't want to undo all of the Squid's work, so I turned his selections into a table of contents, which is stickied in this forum.

OK, I was missing the drop-down menu part and thought that the default page was the only "regular" archives available.
