Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 My awesome cousin surprised me by getting a Citi Field Fan Walk brick, and a glorious package arrived today. The team sends you a certificate, and a display brick with the desired writing on it. Tim had it inscribed with my name and "A Mets fan forever" on it. It comes with felt on the bottom (so it won't scratch the mantle) and a little plaque on top that says "Citi Field 2009 New York Mets Foundation."I was home today when the mail truck arrived, and the carrier said "You've got a heavy package." I said, "Yes! My brick!!!" "A brick?""Yeah, it's really cool."Then she drove away looking at me like I'm crazy.Given my ability to jinx the Mets -- I'm hoping to break a 10-game, 17-year losing streak on Saturday in Cincy -- the team will probably put a trash can on top of me.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Congratulations! Got mine (a gift as well) the other day. Man, this is heavy, I thought. Now if I can get a brick from Shea, I'll have...well, I'll have two bricks.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Excellent. You have an 11-game losing streak when seeing the Mets in person? Good lord, that's terrible.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Very nice!I ordered a rock in the mail back in December. (It was an engraved river rock for my cat's backyard grave.) It's very strange to get such a heavy package.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 My older son, who is not a baseball fan, thought that the brick was a very cool thing. It's sitting up on our mantle.Finding its twin on the Fanwalk when the new stadium opens could be a time consuming chore.

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 soup - I'd like the former, but I'm expecting the latter.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 That could actually be a fun family project though.Every time you go to a game you have to look for the brick.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 It could be a CPF off day outing. We could congregate there and make a map of where our bricks are located.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Soup, it's sad, but true. Actually, I misspoke. It's 10 games. (Keep it mind that it's harder to see them out here, and I'm not counting spring training wins)But here it is. It's almost taken on a life of its own. My friends and family openly discuss ways they'll blow any game as soon as I take my seat.1991 July 21, Mets 9, Dodgers 41993 April 18, Reds 3, Mets 21995 July 26, Cardinal 3, Mets 21995 Sept. 24, Marlins 4, Mets 31997 June 17, Yankees 6, Mets 31997 June 30 Tiger 14, Mets 01999 April 5, Marlins 6, Mets 22007 June 10, Tigers 15, Mets 72007 Aug. 4, Cubs 6, Mets 02008 April 21, Cubs 7, Mets 12008 June 28, Yankees 3, Mets 2I'm obsessed now. If they lose Saturday I'm going to convince my buddies to stay one more day and see Pedro on Sunday. If that fails, they're coming to Milwaukee in September, and that's only five hours away.My buddies have a brick at Great American Ballpark. The team has each section of the walkway numbered, and they told them what section it was located in. We had fun finding it, and posing for many, many photos.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Will they let you put something silly or cryptic on the brick, or does it have to be something expressing Mets fandom?

I'm game, if others are.
