Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 The New Orleans Zephyrs had only one representative assigned to play in the Triple-A All-Star Game in Louisville on July 16. He was outfielder Chris Aguila. With Aguila instead busy getting picked off for the Mets, the team insttead selected Willlie Collazo. Collazo started the season as a reliever but was pressed into duty for an emergency start May 9, and hasn't left the rotatoin since. If that's not enough of a turnaround, Collazo has been named the PCL's starter for the game.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Interesting!I wonder if Willie is pitching himself into consideration for a 2009 Mets rotation audition?
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Thing is that he's doing well, but not wonderfully so, and I suspect his starting nod is as much about bigger shots having their teams withdraw their candidacy for the honor.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I heard Collazo is starting out of respect for the Zephyrs so that the applause will cover him like a soft Kentucky rain.
